February 2024: The Empties
Another month, another basket of empties to go through.
Hello beauties,
Well, that wraps up another month of love. I don’t know what it is but I’ve always loved February. My favorite color is pink so that’s probably the most obvious reason. As a kid, I rememember being in class with all the cutesy decorations and feeling all warm and fuzzy inside. Pink sparkly hearts, cinnamon candies and tiny cupids everywhere - heaven! I’ll take any excuse to treat myself to a baked good or mani/pedi so I really do treat Valentine’s day as a me day. I hope you had the most wonderful month of love filled with spoiling yourself with all your favorite things.
As for beauty empties, what a success! Most of these are all time faves so let’s dive in.
Here are the February empties:
Treehut - Papaya Paradise Shea Sugar Scrub
Oh, Treehut Scurbs, how I love you! These are my all time favourite body scrubs and you will frequently see them on my empties list. As for forumula, its a 10/10. Perfect amount of gritty without being irritating. The price point is insanely good for the amount of product you get. My only con for this specific scrub was the smell. I won’t be picking up the Papaya again. It’s a tough scent to reproduce and this one just ended up coming across as a little too synthetic for me. I have yet to try any other Treehut products yet but I must. Any recs?
*Note: I just found out these are available at Superstore and Walmart in Canada! Priced at $12.99 which is on par with the US cost.
TLDR - A winner and staple in my shower. 10/10.
Felce Azzura - White Musk Shower Gel
Felce Azzura holds a special place in my heart. The original scent moisturizer was always in my grandfather’s bathroom and I would always apply it as a kid when I was bored and going though cabinets (oops). The original scent leans a little more mascule but the White Musk is divine! It’s a fresh and bright. Once again, an amazing price. Head to your local Italian grocer and try it out. It lathers beautifully and isn’t drying in the slightest. Bonus: It’s made in Italy so you can feel a little fancy while using it.
TLDR - My go-to body wash. Love.
Dulce - by Rosie Jane
Here comes the first miss. I love a gourmand smell and mostly wear sweet fragrances but Dulce was a real flop for me. I managed to use it as a room spray so it wouldn’t go to waste and honestly as a room spray, it worked pretty well. It smells very much like a pure vanilla whipped cream. On paper, this is the scent for me but something about it just didn’t work when sprayed on me. It’s funny how perfumed works isn’t it? How it can smell so lovely on someone else and weird and cheap on yourself. I think my main issue is it’s very one note. I didn’t get anything other than vanilla. If you are a vanilla girly, I still think it’s worth a try. But be warned - she is SWEET.
TLDR - Too sweet and not for me (but could be for you?!)
Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Daily Peel Pads
Say that ten time fast. This is one of the few wildly expensive products I purchase that I feel is truly worth the price tag. I don’t use one everyday since it is pretty strong - every few days is perfect for me. There’s a lot of product on the actual pad so I like to bring it down to the neck and chest too. It makes my skin insanely radiant and has helped me so much with texture around my forehead and chin. If you have super sensitive skin, be sure to test on small patch of skin first. Pro-tip: Sephora tends to give them away as testers quite often so it’s a great and free way to try!
TLDR: Essential to my skincare routine. YES.
Skinfix Resurface+ AHA Renewing Body Cream
This was a no go for me. I didn’t find it made any difference with bumpy skin texture. I also found it extremely diffucult to blend into the skin. When I hop out of the shower, I want something that soaks into skin quickly and efficiently. I have places to be! I also think that at the end of the day, I am a scent person and this is scentless - BORING. I want to smell delicious after my shower in every way possible so this just didn’t cut it for me. I will say the reviews are glowing… did I just get a flop batch?
TLDR: It’s a no from me dog. Saw no difference on skin texture and had no scent.
That’s all for this month! What were your hit and miss empties this month?
xoxo
